Biomass Processing

Biomass products — biodegradable plant and animal residues — are processed into fuel. This is done, for example, through gasification, where biomass is heated to 600~1300°C, resulting in a gaseous fuel. Another method is torrefaction, in which biomass is mildly heated in an oxygen-poor environment. This makes biological residues like wood and paper easier to convert into a more efficient energy source.
